Welcome back to Pilot Inspectors. On today's episode, we are discussing the premiere episode of the new Netflix original series One Day at a Time, a remake of the classic 1975 Norman Lear sitcom.

Today's intro music is the One Day at a Time the song, "This Is It," performed by Gloria Estefan.

I recognize this comment will appear over a year after you put up this episode (in my defense, I just found your podcast and I’m inhaling all the shows I watch) but just a note when you two talk about why TPTB didn’t make Penelope a nurse in the Army as well, since she gets out and becomes a nurse; in the Army a straight-up nurse is an officer position you can only attain if you come in with those credentials (the schooling she starts at the end of S1/beginning of S2). In the title sequence you see that she’s enlisted (which, I understand, is splitting hairs if you’re not familiar with the Army), so I had always figured she was a medic (like an EMT), but maybe that’s my bias cause that’s what I am, but I think also aligns with the stories she tells of her deployment(s). For the record, the difference is officers (Nurses) make waaaaaaaay more $$$ than enlisted (Medics), which I think makes sense that she’s not an officer based what we learn in the back half of S2, of her enlisting at 18. Either way, just thought I’d help spread some knowledge....super, super late. :D
